Jessica Vandenburg

Jessica Vandenburgs work strives to delve into the raw emotions and character that is life - to find the human aspect. The most essential aspect is the narrative in the artwork; an overlapping and ever loving connection with a storytelling background.
The work is not about the formal language of the paint and its stylistic importance in either technique or execution; but on the emotional content within the story and connecting with the viewer. Instead, the painterly style and technique is used to support the story: the emotional context, the narrative; not overtake it or be used as a gimmicky or flashy substitute to the message or lack thereof. An honest telling of personal truths, emotions, and experiences. The viewer is able to focus less on stylistic innovation and instead, to refocus on the narrative, and subsequently to the humanity in art.

Jessica Vandenburg holds an Masters in Fine Art with a concentration in Painting from the acclaimed New York Academy of Art located in Tribeca, NYC. Traditional painting techniques are countered with critical discourse. As well as a Bachelors in Fine Arts from California State University, Fullerton with a concentration in Entertainments Arts.

Jessica Vandenburg has exhibited across the United States, including California and New York, as well as recently participating in a show at Gallery Poulsen in Copenhagen, Denmark.
