Jessie Siu

Jessie Siu aims to construct a new reality that is more real than reality itself. She strives to break down the veil of appearances and revealing the higher truth. Seeking not only beauty but wisdom and eternal truth.

As a philosophy graduate her works are heavily influenced by the both western and chinese philosophy. The distinctive characters of fluidity, spontaneity, naturalness and the interplay between duality that displays in her highly stylised works all reflects the influence of the Taoist philosophy. Tao and Art to Jessie are a way of life with which to examine and pursue the balance and harmony of opposing forces and to overcome challenges and constraints like water. Jessie believes painting as a creative expression do more than "painting". She writes poetry with paint brushes; captures movement and creating moving images two dimensionally; and making music with lines and forms. With her art Jessie hopes to become the Overman philosopher Nietzsche spoke of, becoming and impossible version of your best self.
