Jim Scheel

I am mainly a self-taught artist. I have drawn or painted most of my life. I look around me and I see shapes, colors and patterns. Sometimes, I see things that strike me so hard that I have to stop and catch my breath.

Most of my life, I've worked in a representational style. However, the past several years, I have been exploring abstract painting. Abstract painting is always an exploration of a distillation of the colors and shapes I see in nature merged with my inner emotional life.

Primarily self-taught. Studied at Kline Academy and Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Arts
