Joachim Andrae

Born 1970 in Neumünster, Germany.

My current focus is on abstract art. My works are created in mixed media on handmade paper, using the historical photographic process of cyanotype, which I mix with other media in the manner of photochemical painting. Through the partial use of gold leaf, I explore the effect between the matt paper surface and the shiny gold. In this way, fine unique pieces are created that captivate the viewer.
I am driven by the desire to try things out. I explore possibilities to create art that inspires others and enriches their lives.
The primary colour of most of my current works is blue. Blue is the colour of longing for what you don't have and yet want so much. The colour of the horizon, far away and yet so close.

In addition to attending seminars and reading reference books, I have developed most of the creative techniques myself.
I'm member of the National Association of Artists (BBK) and honorary member of the Japan Pinhole Photographic Society, Tokyo.
