João Nuno Simões

João Nuno Simões ( 1961) is a painter, sculpture and creator who currently lives and works in Lisbon. He studied, in the University of Belas Artes at Lisbon.
He is currenty a member of the International Association of Plastic Arts, together with the ONU for the Education, Science and Culture AIAP.UNESCO . Portugal
In 1984 began exhibiting paintings and graphics. He is represented in museums and public and private collections.

A primitive wind goes through our memories

One day at dawn the cold wind of several memories crosses our minds and we begin looking at the world in a complete different way. It's either a wind or a
breeze, depending on the anatomy of our anguish, memory of the run distance since the opaque age that came before our childhood. Lost things in the long drift for life maze, sepia pictures waving gloomily from the past, from the inside of old photographs and many mossy buildings, stairs, bridges, roots, dun houses, no named fossils, everything that belongs to the primitive waft of memory crimps up- or merely lands- in the impossible real time of the images over there. Real time while watching. Real time of ruins perception. Because the world that we see this way in such an afternoon looks asset like the cities of dreams, old puzzles that no archaeology can unveil, or severe architectures emerging from plains seen from the air, earthy, textural, hollow and silent.

João Nuno speaks about this, either crossing the memories or describing the route of his migrations. Some time ago this artist evoked, in a surreal way,
amphoras, flagons, unusual vases, from which tadpoles and small monsters emerged, herbaceous beasts that threatene...
