I would describe my work as an exploration into body image issues. People opt for transformation because they feel uncomfortable within themselves but they sometimes change and become a shadow of their former self. In some extreme cases they become monsters, almost totally devoid of anything natural. I like to create a background and a narrative for these "monsters" to exist within. I am an inventor, creating new life forms. More Doctor Frank'n'furter than Doctor Frankenstein perhaps?
As these people change themselves, they can become less human and increasingly artificial, even robotic; I use industrial pieces of machinery to portray this loss of humanity. The human scale of my work is also a part of the direct relation with the viewer and suggests the idea that these creations are directly comparable to the onlooker.
