Born in Puerto Rico, grew up in New York. Studies with art stars Elaine de Kooning and Larry Rivers at Parsons School of Design in New York, BFA. But I learned more from Michelangelo. And keep learning from him. That sounds so retro, no? Wrong! Nothing is more necessary for our dark times than beauty. Yes, queer beauty. Because the beauty of a solitary line, a sensuous shape, a sudden burst of color is my weapon against stupidity, hypocrisy, evil forces of any kind. And together with the nude body, beauty is - again - a cry of protest. Ugly minds hate beauty.

Jordan’s work is in galleries and private collections worldwide. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, has added his two books to the Special Collection of its Watson Library: “Of Art and Men” and “Of Men and Michelangelo” are available at jordanmejias. com
