"I am a collector and archivist of cut-out image-fragments to which I dedicate many hours meticulously cutting from the source materials that have been discarded. Like Walter Benjamin's "Denkbilder", they express to me a libidinal economy of desire in fragments that when composed and photographed create allegorical images of unknowable purpose. These allegories, with mysterious central characters and questionable narratives ultimately reference a failure of signification."
Jorge Alberto Perez is a 2012 graduate of the International Center of Photography - Bard College MFA program in photography and curatorial studies.
