As a practicing surgeon the close interplays of form, function, and beauty confront me daily. Art is the chance to try and make sense of what I encounter professionally and personally in a lasting representation.

I am an amateur lifelong artist from Texas with a passion for the outdoors and the world's landscapes. I have had the privilege to spend large portions of my life immersed in nature and was raised to appreciate the complex beauty within our world. As a child and adolescent, I spent the majority of my free time in a small community of 895 people in a Northwest Texas town. This shaped me greatly and showed me the great dedication and earnest attitudes of Americana life. I continually find myself captivated by the richness in simplicity. This informs my art undoubtedly through a vast obsession with the grandeur of the American West and its people.

Surgery lends to an unparalleled, constant interaction with a human's physical body, emotion, and spirit. This brings both harsh challenges but also immense satisfaction to daily life that often leaves me frequently speechless to express these highs and lows. Painting offers the avenue to externalize many of those intensities in meaningful and deeply personal ways....
