Jocelyn Gardner

Inspired by the success of my drawings in wildlife art in the '80s, I chose to focus my career toward scientific illustration after completing my university studies in biology. After a few years outside the arts trail, I immersed myself in the exploration of the abstract during the ’90s (painting and sculpting). After I parted with the personal creative expression in the early 2000s, I was fortunate to be reunited with her at a Sfumato workshop in 2009. During this period, as a scientific illustrator, I master different image processing software. This allowed me to realize how I could use these technological tools in my personal expression. Traditional or digital? This is NOT the question. These two avenues of creativity are intertwined and are of equal importance. I cannot separate them when my paintings reveal themselves: the pictorial works that emerge expose different aspects of myself and my life.
