Jan Ter Weele

I'm based in Maine with a studio in Portland. My paintings are about color and shape. At present I'm working on landscapes and a series of abstract paintings. In 2014 I was picked to do a month-long residency on Monhegan Island. See my Monhegan paintings. I was born in The Netherlands. Note: Photo of me in my studio is by Bill Duffy.

I've studied at Maine College of Art, Massachusetts College of Art, the Honolulu Academy of the Arts, and the Art Students League of New York.

My paintings have been in many solo and invitational shows. In 2011 and 2012 my paintings were in two successive invitational shows at the George Marshall Store Gallery in York, Maine, and in September-November 2014 nine of my paintings were in a 3-person show there. I have exhibited at the Aucocisco and O'Farrell galleries,Gallery415 inChicago,CooperJackson, and the Clown, among others. My paintings are in collections throughout the U.S. and in Japan, London, and Belgium.
