Artist Statement:
I invite you to feel your energy catalyzed within the “mirror” of my painting.

Painting is my time to play with my energy, getting out of my inner dialogue and into my body, the brush, the canvas. I’m squatting on the floor, hovering above canvases too big for me to reach all the way across. I have to lunge for the paint; my body moves through a yoga pose, then shifts to another side where my arm flows up and down making strokes on canvas as if I were still and it was the earth and brush moving an making the art. My attention dissolves into the painting. When my mind wanders, or if I’m rushing through art hour to get to a different activity, I mess up.But when I can redirect my focus back into the movement, paintbrush, and canvas; the art flows again. For each painting, I’m holding a specific feeling that’s being taken apart and then reconstructed into an unique art piece.

If I have done my job, every brushstroke holds my energy at its moment of creation. When I look at my paintings, I get a “whiff” of the energy that I put into them.
