Angela Jutta Knowles

Born 1952 in Fontainebleau,near Paris, Angela has lived in Yorkshire from the age of 7. Influenced by a Bohemian grandfather and German born mother, art and music feeds her soul. Angela's artwork has evolved over the years from drawing and painting to creating images using textiles, photography and moving images, inspired by the diverse heritage of Yorkshire and German parentage.

Juxtaposing sculptural textile installations with photographic and moving images, Angela embraces the concept of attachment to place through subconscious memories provoked by photographic images and second-generation recollection. The process of making, stitching, molding or filming enabling the liberation of hidden emotions and releasing the mind from the banalities of life, transcending into a world of childhood imagination.
