Guusje Kaayk

The movement of the human body fascinates me.
Ever since the end of last century, I am concerned with capturing these dynamics. Armed with drawing pad and pastels, and since 2011 also with the iPad, I visit theater, dance and music performances and register quickly outlining what I see and experience. Reports have emerged in many editions of Oerol, NorthSeaJazz and other locations.
Making a choreography and using the sketches for my animations facinates me.
My three-dimensional work is inspired by my animations and drawings.

iPad:
No chalk, no pencil or pen, but the IPad, her finger and a kind of pen are the tools she used to make the sketches wich are shown on this website.
Guusje Kaayk makes drawned reports from theater and music performances since years.
In 2011 she discovered the possibilities of the IPad2.
It was a revelation for the artist, who is much in demand at festivals.
She draws in a furious pace the movement, the dynamism of musicians or actors.
Kaayk was guest artist at North Sea Jazz, Terschellings Oerol Festival and other locations.
Her experience of the performance is the basis of the drawing.
