Kamran Srush (Iran-Teheran, 1961)

Towards discoveries of what had already been discovered. Looking for new means to give an image a new language. The responsibility of an artist towards his image and his audience are of great importance. This artist followed a painting course in Tehran from 1979 to 1984 at a private Art Institute of Peymani. Srush has lived and worked in the Netherlands since 1984. In Groningen he attended Art Academy Minerva, where he graduated in 1994 in painting and drawing. The light colours, the abundance of decoration and the frequently changing perspectives largely determine the character of Kamran Srush's paintings.
The tradition of Persian miniature painting plays an important role in his work. But in his theme he distances himself completely from. Srush himself says about this: "One of my main goals is to bring elements of Western painting with elements of Eastern painting together in an image, so that a new image is created and at the same time not depicting images as you see it but the interpretation of it”
