Kiarash Anvari

Born in 1977 in Tehran, Iran, Kiarash Anvari began his artistic career in 1998 when he started to create and produce short films, documentaries and video art pieces, among them …And I was born to sweet Delight! (2000), I am a Purifier! (2002) and Duet (2006), which were screened and exhibited in prestigious national and international festivals and cultural centers around the world such as Witte de With Centre for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam and the Musee des Beaux-Arts de Nantes in France, the Kalamata International Documentary Film Festival in Greece, the Video Mundi Film and Video Festival in United States and the Chicago International Movies and Music Festival.

His short films were also nominated for several awards at prestigious national and international festivals, such as the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in Germany, the Palm Springs international Short Film festival in the United States and the Tehran International Short Film Festival.

He has also written several successful short films and documentary scripts, including Féminin, Masculin (2007), produced by ARTE and ZDF channels, which was nominated for the Best Non-European Film Award at Grand Off-World I...

Anvari graduated with BA in Film & Television Production from Soureh University of Tehran and holds an MA in Film Studies from University of Provence (Aix-Marseille I). He has continued his Ph.D. in Film philosophy at the Philosophy Department of the latter university.
