Kiera O'Toole

I am a visual artist / researcher who is currently based at The Model Arts and Niland Gallery, Co Sligo, Ireland. My practice examines contemporary drawing as phenomenology and the complex lived experiences of migration particularity within Irish and Irish/Australian contexts and landscape which are intended to inform and find form.
As a returned migrant who is married to an Australian man and have one child who is Australian, my practice explores the cultural shifts that exist in and after migration which offers an ontological means to explore ‘my’ mark through an experiential and experimental approach. As a dialogic activity and as a vehicle for shared experiences, my approach includes collaboration, social engagement and public participation to further explore the nature and characteristics of drawing as a phenomenology.
