When in art school, I wanted to paint water surfaces all the time. But since every time I did, the subject started to change its appearance. I had to take photographs to freeze it, then paint it. Years ago, when working on my first collection for myself in 2002, I remembered that technique, slightly adapted it by digitally reducing photographs of my favorite places into one vertical line of a several hundred single pixels. By stretching them, I found the perfect way to turn emotional pictures into abstract and modern classic artwork.
