Contemporary painter of highly expressive art, employing fluid acrylics to convey energy and movement.
Artistic Style:
Using a combination of painting and drawing techniques, I brush, spatter, splash, scrape, and scribble a plain white canvas into a symphony of color. With my hyper-expressive techniques, I try to put you in touch with the energy within my subjects, which could be a musician filling the air with a melody or a herd of wild mustangs thundering down a hillside.
My personal style has evolved from a loose realism into what resembles a combination of the techniques of my two favorite artists, one from post-impressionism and the other from abstract expressionism. I like to call it Vincent van Pollock.
Background:
I was born in 1961 in Freeport, Texas, where the humidity is so thick you can slice it and mosquitoes are so big that they fly in formation. We moved around a bit while I was growing up. Angleton to Houston to Waco to New York, back to Waco, out to the country for awhile in Ross, Texas, then back to Angleton. My artistic interest was encouraged mostly by my mother when I was young who was probably inspired by my great grandmother who also enjoyed painting.
