Recapturing dreams, magical stories, unclear memories are central topics in the work of Klaudia Krynicka. Almost empty sky, deep horizon, indistinct characters create certain moods and emotional states. Landscapes are pushed in the direction of abstraction, where representational likeness is reduced and only the essential is expressed. Portraits are formed gradually, they are never really finished. Krynicka’s works explore the question of how far one can push the form of a motif to be independent of its form without ending up with a total non-representation. Each of her works is somewhere on the way between realism and abstraction, between an imitation of a nature and the autonomous value of form.

Experiencing her works is like entering an alternative reality where there are endlessly many possible scenarios and endings, where we could pause any moment and stretch the time beyond its limits. Krynicka’s works tell the stories: melancholic, sometimes disturbing, but always very personal.
