Laura Darling

Laura is an artist and writer based in Brighton, UK.
She studied at the Art Academy in London and is a member of various arts collectives in the local area. Her work is collected in UK, Europe and North America.

I use oils to capture the peculiar geography and sense of being rooted in a landscape. My loose and minimal style is concerned with processing the ideas and colours that form while walking in the landscape. I'm inspired by the Downlands near my home and often start with a photograph, a word or a story and build the painting from there.

I uses the same loose and evocative style to capture still life objects, conveying a sense of color and light.
