Laura grew up in Chicago surrounded by the influence of the Chicago Imagists. Her work reflects the dual interests of story-telling and theatrical production – the building blocks for her consistent interest in Sculptural Installations and Narrative Tableau. In the late 1970’s Larson moved to Los Angeles where she became involved in the feminist art movement including participation in Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party, a controversial, ground–breaking feminist art piece, The Women’s Caucus for Art, and Rachel Rosenthal’s “DBD” workshop.
Over the last 10 years Larson’s work has touched on 2 main topics: our relationship to nature and our animal co-inhabitants; and investigations into the cultural, historical, spiritual through-lines of the female trinity: mind, body and spirit.

Larson graduated from Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin, receiving a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in fine art and theatre arts.

Laura Larson has exhibited her work extensively throughout California, nationally and also internationally. Her interest in the mind/body/spirit trinity has been explored through a distinct body of work: the “Looking Glass Lounge” (mind) solo show at HAUS gallery, Los Angeles Art Association/Gallery 825 and the Riverside Art Museum, “Epidermis Emporium” (body), solo show at the Kristi Engle Gallery in downtown Los Angeles, “Grace and Glory” (spirit) site specific installation at the Lancaster Museum of Art and History in 2016. In 2018 she exhibited "In The Mourning" at the Los Angeles Art Association along with a duel exhibition of a large scale photo collage called "The Council Gathers In Time" with her husband, Dean Larson. The duo has also had 2 solo exhibitions at the Fine Arts Gallery in downtown Los Angeles, Ca. In 2019 she showed "In The Mourning" at the Museum of Art and History in Lancaster, CA.
