Growing up in a family of artists and arts practitioners, Hui Ling began her career, first as a studio apprentice to her father, award-winning sculptor Lee Kian Seng, and then came into her own as an environmental artist, working in traditional and contemporary media, weaving activism, social and historical references in multiple material and conceptual contexts. Theoretically rooted in cultural materialism, her practice encompasses community engagement, cultural preservation and advocacy with a focus on environmental issues, nature conservation and biodiversity. Her passions are empowerment through the creative arts and building inclusive communities. Hui Ling is a Japan Foundation Fellow and Singapore International Foundation Arts For Good Fellow.
