I am a Londoner with parents from Guyana. This has a constant influence on my creative view. Over all inspiration comes from very personal aspects of my life.
My paintings, are centred around the female form. She is purposefully voluptuous. The large physical scale of my pieces adds emphasis to this. This is how I see women.

I love the colour combination, materials and design of this particular afro comb. The folding characteristic inspired my tag name A F R O F L Y / / .
The afro comb is a strong symbol of my culturally unique afro hair type. Hair plays a very big part in the life's of most black girls and women - with positive and negative associations. This is why it is represented in much of my work. To add to this, I like to have fun playing with the hairstyles of my females.

Jewellery has historically always been used as a definition of culture. I work with the idea of how certain styles of custom jewellery have become modern symbols of subcultural expression. For example the bamboo earring and hip hop culture.
