Lex Ubbink lives in the Netherlands, and has been painting since the year 2000. He has followed various painting courses in this context, including at the Gooise Academy for Visual Arts in Laren, but his own style is mainly self-taught. Lex paints with oil paint on linen, and in his creations he is always looking for the perfect balance in color and composition.
Inspired by 'De Stijl' artists and the colors 'red yellow blue', many works by Lex Ubbink can be described as geometric figurative, in which he wants to give everyday subjects maximum visual power through minimal composition and color scheme. A bicycle, a windmill, a cat or a boat. Can primary use of form and color strengthen the visual power of the subject, or give it a new recognition?
The pursuit of the perfect balance in composition and color is paramount in the creation and in the result. Aesthetics is the motivation and the goal.
In 2009 he created his "LOVE" series, in which the letters L O V E transform to primary forms: rectangle (L), circle (O), triangle (V) and square (E), one and another in the primary colors 'Red, Yellow and Blue'. The series consists of several works (oil on canvas).
At the end of 2012 2 paintings were completed "Windmill in Red Yellow Blue"...
