Glass and mixed media artist Lisa Bate is British born, now residing and working from her studio in Auckland, New Zealand. Lisa makes contemporary sculptures which are predominantly in cast glass, using the lost wax technique, making refractory moulds and kiln firing the crystal glass. Current work explores the connection between two kiln heated materials, glass and ceramic. Producing smaller parts to make the whole final piece, the theme of the work is concerned with expressing movement and growth, sculptures can move or are interchangeable.
