I love to discover and recreate the striking compositions that surround me: Scenes from my everyday experience that speak to me visually while resonating with me emotionally. Sewing since I was eight, I find the best way to express myself is by translating these images into fiber collages using fabric, paper, needle, and thread. I want to recreate the observed image to feel it again, not just see it. Rebuilding a composition piece by piece submerges me back into the space of that second in time and allows me to relive it in a way a photograph doesn’t permit. Joining these materials to each other brings my world back into focus and makes the fleeting moment tactile once more. From a distance, my work reads as a painting, print or even a photograph. It is only with closer inspection that the work’s true construction reveals itself, giving the viewer more and more to visually explore and spend time with.
