My name is Laura Lloyd. I am a painter and sculptor living in st Peters, MO.
I have always been fascinated with people and colors. I consider my paintings to be visual poems informed by my personal experience of life. The work evolves intuitively using different tools and techniques of applying paint and sometimes scraping the paint away to reveal hidden layers. Color and texture are layered into a multidimensional visual weave that hints at the underlying feelings and complexity of our lives. Carefully rendered passages and intuitive bursts of color and mark-making make the work visually stimulating. The paradox of change, notions of risk, fear, and intuition coexist within a veil of optimism and hopefulness that permeates my art.
Most days I can be found painting in my studio at the Foundry Art Center in St Charles MO. The studios are open to the public. Stop in and say hi, I would love to meet you!
I am largely self-taught and took lessons from Victor Wang at Fontbonne College in St Louis.
