Lucía Herrero (Madrid, 1976) studied Architecture,
Photography and Physical Theatre.

The study of these three branches of art and her experiences travelling the world has shaped Lucia as the artist she is now.

Lucia is a photographer whose work has won many international prizes. Her style in documentary and art photography has interested curators and publishers from al over the world. That made Lucia’s photos be exhibited internationally.

Over the last years she has developed an approach to documentary photography called by her Antropología Fantástica . It is a mixture between social science and artistic intervention. She portraits people and cultures with both drama and fantasy elements. The people photographed are always real, not actors. It is a photo-event where the subjects interpret themselves and where Lucia composes them in the space as if they were notes on a stave.

On each of her essays there is a social analysis but also a theoretical research and reflexion about visual language.

Her four latest projects are “Tribes”, “Species”, “Equation”, “PORC no GRAPHIC” and “Reindeer-Man”.
