Lucian Constantin Smau

"The sculptor Lucian Smau can be described with respect to his vision as structurally belonging to the Mediterranean spirit, available for the sensuality of the shapes and even a certain exaltation of them. That is why the nudes have, whatever the material might be, a certain spiritualization, an appetizing tactile seduction, without the vulgar taste of the promiscuous. Lucian Smau feels the shape and expresses it with the naturalness of a Greek master. His vegetables have, beyond their organic consistency, the profound pulsation of the living. A graduate of the George Enescu Academy from Iasi, sculpture section, in 1996, the artist is preoccupied with the noblesse which the transfigured material can transmit, through the sculptor’s energy. An artist endowed with mimetic aptitudes and remarkable qualities for catching expressions, crafty and perseverant, Constantin Smau contours his work as having as an epicenter the human body.
