I am interested in the act of making. I work with photography, video, digital media, paper, and installation. I approach the creative process from a position of disinterest - understanding what I do less as ‘making art’ and more as an activity. I become detached and resist control of the work often accepting mechanical interference and chance happenings and allowing for observation external to the process.

Recent work has revolved around using an inkjet scanner/printer combo to produce an ongoing series of prints. I started scanning the detritus from a series of paper works - progressively diluting the imagery through repetition and reworking the paper into a state of mute eloquence. This led onto scanning blank acetate and paper, as well as found photographs and pages from worn magazines in which the ‘image’ was already found disrupted.

Through repetition and accepting the material slippages of the process, the images are further disrupted - further resembling nothing and thus further resembling themselves. By simultaneously considering the formality/banality of the process and the resultant products’ capacity for visceral response, my work makes this tension apparent.
