Painting plein air in oils and watercolors has greatly influenced my studio artwork. Plein air describes the method of creating a painting from start to finish on site. A more exacting, intense experience compared to painting in the studio it forces me to be fully aware of each brush strokes importance. To master plein air painting requires complete confidence in my medium and total familiarity with my color pallet.
Welcomed as a gifted child at eight years of age my parents had me tutored by John Sanborn, a highly respected Victoria B.C. oil painter, and Alice Carey a watercolorist whose work hangs in the Sorbonne France. I received a thorough apprenticeship in both mediums. At St Anne Academy, Victoria B.C. I was the only student in Sister Mary Luke's studio where she tutored me in the Traditional Atelier Method of the Masters.
I hold two Private Showings at my Hamblen Studio a year: Spring and Fall for Invited Patrons and Collectors. Please join me in my studio this Spring 2018. For details go to www.lynnehaines.com
