Madison Canyon was born and raised on her family’s ranch in southern Alberta, where she naturally developed a love for horses and the western lifestyle at an early age. This also included drawing and painting horses when she wasn’t riding or showing them with her mom, Jennifer. Growing up as the daughter of entertainer and artist George Canyon, Madi inherited her love of art and has combined her two passions in life into an emerging art career. Although primarily a self-taught artist, Madi credits her art teachers and mentors, including equine artist Carolyn Sinclair, for giving her "a leg up". Madi currently focuses on creating contemporary western paintings that combine unexpected colour with unique perspectives. Madi has cultivated a signature style through her depiction of the individual personality and character of her subjects, therefore giving each painting it’s own story, with the grace of a 'quiet strength'.
Madison was selected as an artist to showcase and auction off one of her pieces at the Spruce Meadows Leg Up Foundation’s inaugural event, the Masterpieces at the ‘Masters'.
