Maja Buric Djuranovic

Maja was born on 05.05.1965. in Podgorica, Montenegro (former republic of Yugoslavia). She finished Academy of Education - the Department of painting, in Niksic, Montenegro. Shortly after, she started working in Correctional Centar for juveniles, as art teacher. Couple years that she spend there, influences her work in many ways. Someone said that you could see difficult fates,hopelessness and lost dreams of her students, in her paintings.. All in all, those were difficult times of sanctions and poverty in all countries that once was part of the Yugoslavia.
At the beginning of nineties, Maja starts working in the largest national publishing company "Pobjeda". She worked as a graphic designer.
Fifteen years later company was forced to let go a large number of workers. Maja was one of them.
Till this day she works as a free lancer in editing magazines, books and ect.
All her life, she paints. Organizing exhibitions is very expensive and complicate in Montenegro, due to political and social pressure. That is why she didn`t had as much promotion of her work, as she actually has to show to the public.
This site is great way for an artist to show what he`s done, and to promote his work in the way he think is the best.
