Mallika is a multi-disciplinary artist based out of Bangalore, India. A computer engineer by profession, Mallika designed computer circuits in the Silicon Valley for almost 10 years before quitting her tech job to pursue her passion full time.

Mallika launched her art practice in 2010 as a resident studio artist at San Francisco’s renowned CELLspace in the Mission district. She is extremely passionate about riding motorcycles and channels that energy into her paintings. Her favorite medium is a good old brush and acrylic paint on canvas and wood.

As a self-taught artist with a tech background, Mallika's work features clean lines and bold colors which lends a contemporary graphic quality to her work. She has a keen eye for visually soothing compositions with standout negative spaces.

Mallika is presently experimenting with sheets of wood and creating multi-layered pieces that lend an additional depth to each of her pieces. A special feature of some of her larger pieces is the lack of a rectangle enclosing the artwork. She calls them open landscapes that invite the viewer to experience something really unconventional and evocative.
