Born in Habana, Cuba, baptized as Manuel Ramon Martín Marciál de la Mercéd Rodriguez O'Halloran! I always find it fun to share all the names my parents gave me, appeasing relatives and saints, I guess. Soon after, my parents left Cuba with my sister and I, with only the clothes on their backs, and headed north to South Florida.
Having been raised in Miami, and so close to the beach, the ocean, the flora and fauna, the colors of the city, the whole Cuban experience, became what influenced me most. As for my photographic influences, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Irving Penn, Herb Ritts, together with the aforementioned, formed my photographic vision.
I create photographs not intentionally trying to communicate a message, but simply to relax my mind and soul. Curves, lines, color, lack of color, light, and shadows, they all come together for the sole purpose of discovering and sharing beauty. The experience of photographing and making things look beautiful gives me spiritual and carnal tranquility. I can only hope you find the same in viewing my photographs.
Self taught, discovered the camera and what it could do when I was 19 years old. Fell in love with the medium and never looked back.
