Maria Luisa Hernandez

I was born In Chile in 1966 and grew up in Santiago. I gained a Masters Degree in Fine Art at the University of Chile. In 1998 I won an award from the Foreign Office of Chile to exhibit in Stockholm, which was the European cultural capital that year. I travelled to France, Italy and Spain, coming from the New World I was finally able to witness the great masters of light, Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt and Turner through my own eyes. In 1999 I moved to London, where I studied at the Prince’s Drawing School. I have exhibited in art galleries and shows throughout London and was nominated into the Courvoisier Future 500 Network sponsored by the Observer. My work is held in private and corporate collections around the world. I divide my time painting between the vibrant culture of London and the raw inspiration that emanates from the ocean.

The painting is built in an organic process of layers, slowly evolving until it comes to life.
