The source of her creativity, outside the genes, is perhaps her ten year experience of bording school. She spent her youth, between the ages of seven and seventeen, in convents, first in Driebergen and thereafter in Vught. For Marjo, these were not happy days. Drawing cartoons of nuns and priests, of good and naughty girls, was her escape and salvation.
When she was 20 years of age, she went to St. Joost Art College in Breda, subsequently taking lessons at Art College, 't Duvelhok, in Tilburg.
Then she moved to Paris to follow art history for one year.
Now, from her rustic farmhouse and studio and with her zest for life and free spirit she creates, often colourful, expressive sculptures and paintings.
