Rooted in the North Shields Fish Quay, Mark Taylor has been creating artworks for over 20 years taking inspiration from the North East coastline and industrial heritage and more recently, the waterways and skylines of London.
As an artist, sailor, and lifeboatman, Taylor has a lifelong love of the sea which translates into pieces that capture the transient qualities of the light on water. The artist studies the evolution of life by our seas and rivers, depicting the constant fluctuations and rhythms of life.
Working for exhibition or to commission, Taylor offers the capacity to produce a multitude of different styles and sizes of work. From landscape and seascapes to large contemporary abstract pieces in a more experimental and exploratory style, the artist investigates the self and surroundings, working in oils and acrylics.
The artist was featured in the annual exhibition of the Royal Society of Marine Artists hosted by Mall Galleries, London, 2022, and is currently Artist-in-Residence at London Marriott Canary Wharf.
