While running a honey factory in Zambia in 1990, I started to consider how to spend more time drawing and painting. And 20 years later, at the beginning of 2011, I finally left behind a career in accountancy and management to start painting full time.
I find it magical to convey a representation of three dimensional objects in two dimensional images. Finding patterns, shapes and colours in the natural world intrigues me. This generates the energy which is expressed in the construction of the painting. I normally use oils and pastels and whenever possible work outdoors.
The air of the place is therefore embedded in the picture - and sometimes sand and grass too.
The pleasure and insight that I find in viewing art encourages me to want to creatively communicate my own experiences and feelings in shapes and colours.
Currently I am moving from largely representational images towards more abstract ones.

Apart from a foundation course at the Slade in 2005 and numerous art classes, I am largely self-taught.

Other:
MA (English) Oxford

Burgh House, Hampstead: 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017
numerous cafes, restaurants and a dentist's waiting room
