I make portraits of the people around me. I am moved by curiosity, affection, life stories. I express a point of view. I try to capture environments, signify objects and discover the symbolic. I like to emphasize the serenity of the faces, the expression of the hands or the eloquence of a gesture. The relationship between photographer and portrayed is never anonymous: I need to know people and feel a truth as a starting point.
The experiences, stories and anecdotes of the people who are portrayed are necessary to achieve the photographic image. The same process of preparing the session serves me as a learning process, and is, at the same time, an experience. All this brings us back to the passing moment, to the experience, to life. I think you must feel excitement to achieve a valid photograph, understanding as valid the image that satisfies us and that is a good representation, a story shown, finally, as the enigmatic tip of an iceberg.
I am aware that, with the passage of time, personal memory distorts our experience, and finally clouds our memories and images. Of the photographic sessions and of the whole process of relationship and communication that they entail, there is a portrait. And that portrait becomes a reincarnation:...
