Mary Elaine Ward

I am a self-taught contemporary realist painter in both oil and acrylics. I currently live in the Cincinnati area after a recent move from Chicagoland.

I began drawing as a child and continued on into adulthood. It wasn't until I became disabled in later life that I turned to painting for a creative outlet. In a few years, I began to display and sell my work through online galleries.

My paintings reflect scenes from a life time of midwestern living. Vistas of windswept fields, shorelines, and country roads compete with the finite detail of a single flower or the unabashed closeup of the everyday. Light reflections, shadows and shade are a recurrent theme.

Although damage from RA has severely limited my range of motion, I continue to paint whenever possible. I hope someday to participate in local art events and exhibits..
