Mary Estrem

I was born and raised in a little hamlet in west central Minnesota (US). I also lived in Colorado and Montana before settling in North Dakota. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drawing from Minnesota State University-Moorhead. My artwork has been published in local newspapers and magazines. I commissioned an artist rendering for a financial institution, created imagery for a graphics firm, and designed images for a training manual development company. I have been featured in several galleries. Most recently, I received a Purchase Award from the 26th Annual Pekin Art Show.

I had a passion for art at a very young age and loved to spend time outdoors. I believe the natural world is absolutely beautiful making it my favorite subject to draw or paint. Nature is spiritual, enlightening the soul through its power and awe-inspiring beauty. My mediums of choice are colored pencil, watercolor and pastel. Each has a unique application which allows me to explore the creative process in a variety of ways. My work is mainly realistic in style with touches of impressionism. I strive to create intriguing artwork that draws you into a moment of time...to a place of inspiration, wonder and peace.
