I realized at a young age that I process the world through my hands. While drawing, painting, sculpting and sewing I work through and make sense of my life as it unfolds. For me it is a natural way to examine and get closer to my experience.
I have a twin sister who lost her mind while involved in a small spiritual community in Los Angeles. An awakening she was not ready for turned into a long transformational period for us where I developed a deep fascination for epigenetics, alchemy and ancestry as she very slowly found her grounding. It was then going through my own journey of working with a congenital spinal deformity that I realized myself as a healer. I use my heightened sensitivities and strong connection to the natural world to guide the imagery in my work. The mirror images of animals in my pieces are a personal study into the relationship of identical twins while the lone creatures represent my move towards identity separation. The groupings I paint represent the dance of our ancestors and our connection to them and every thing around us.
