Artist Meg Lionel Murphy’s paintings are informed by debilitating PTSD from severe domestic violence. Over the past few years, she has compulsively painted heartbroken femmes that magically grow larger, stronger, and scarier than the world around them. As the paintings grow in number, she grows just a little larger, stronger, and scarier too.
Meg works from rural Wisconsin. She splits her time painting between a little blue shack in a junkyard and the storefront artist collective, The Yellow Room.
Her work has been featured in a number of exhibitions including “Interior Violence” solo show at CoExhibitions Gallery (Minneapolis), as well as group shows at Public Functionary (Minneapolis) and at the Other Art Fair (Los Angeles).
She is currently working on her debut New York solo exhibition which will take place at The Untitled Space gallery in 2021.
