Mel Kilby

Born and raised in Australia, I have always loved creating and Art. I excelled in school both primary and secondary in Visual Art and placed first each year in Secondary school in Visual Arts. I also won the Year 12 acquisition award at my school for my 2 Unit Major Artwork.

After joining the Royal Australian Navy in 1996, the desire to do Art faded away as I was busy being serving my country. It wasn't until my two daughters hit preschool age that the desire to be creative returned, however being a busy mum, then a single mum made finding time to Art very difficult.

My girls are now both teenagers, both quite successful young artists themselves that have inspired me to continue developing and evolving my passion of creating alongside them.

I don't like to limit myself to only one particular area in my Art. I enjoy painting, pastels, fine tip markers, inks and so much more.

I am a self-taught, however have attended a couple of artist workshops conducted by local artists, pen and watercolour and Floral painting workshops.

I have also conducted my own acrylic paint pouring workshops.
