Melody Anchietta

I was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. Starting when I was four years old, my family moved nearly every year to towns throughout the American Midwest. We were living in Tulsa, Oklahoma when I graduated from high school.

I always enjoyed drawing and painting, and wanted to continue to enjoy it. So, I decided not to pursue art as a career. Instead, I majored in history and liberal arts, and then went to law school. I worked as a public defender for more than ten years. Whenever I had the chance, I painted to escape the pressure and ugliness of my day job.

I am inspired by many artists, including the Impressionists, Gustav Klimt, and especially Vincent Van Gogh. I strive to capture the beauty of life in my paintings, and I want to bring joy to the people who view them.

I mainly work with acrylics and oil pastels, but I enjoy experimenting with other mediums, as well. For me, making pictures is a wonderful adventure I want to experience every day.
