A little education for you about what my art is about.
Goldwork or metal thread emboidery, has enriched the trappings of man from early Egyptian and Babylonian clothing to today's mititary uniforms.

Beaten gold, cut in narrow strips, formed the first of these precious metal threads to be used on textiles, and over the past thousand years has evolved through the gilded 'drawn' silver wire to the metallised fibres of today.

Goldwork, as you will see in my work, using the costly and traditional drawn wire 'threads', has been historically considered the height of all embroidery, but rarely has it been used for other than church vestments and hangings, or enhancing the clothing of the status minded wealthy of by-gone eras.

all of the threads used in these pieces are either:
2%gold gilt silver plate copper enamelled copper[colours]
with all of these metals there are approximately 600 different wire textures, sizes and types of 'threads' to chose in creating a design.
the designs are stitched on cotton or silk fabric and hand-made fusion silk
