I began practicing photography at the age of 12, during the pre-digital age, in Detroit. Over the next several years I practiced a variety of techniques - Orton, infrared, photomontage, and hand-tinting. My B & W work was processed in my home darkroom
As an adult I have lived in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, and Florida, where I permanently reside. As a digital photographer I create abstract, surreal, street, cityscape, and nature images, mostly as fine art.
I was trained in photography at the Creative Arts Workshop (New Haven) and University of South Florida. With the exception of my abstract and surreal works, I minimize post-processing. My works are composed in the viewfinder with my camera positioned at atypical angles and the exposures carefully controlled. This way, the final image is truer to its original intent. My abstract images are created by manipulating images of the natural world or by creating a 2-dimensional pieces that are photographed and tuned or re-imagined, post-processing. My influences include Turner, Cartier-Bresson, Uelsmann, and Avedon.
