Michele Viana

I am a neurologist/neuroscientist-artist who enthuses with different techniques and mediums.
My works are characterized by an abstract-informal background composed of a palette of bright and intense colors on which I apply architectures and glimpses of large cities with vibrant brushstrokes and strong signs.
The aim of doing Art to me is to communicate with different emotions that cross me. Strong, intense emotions that are freely expressed in the informal work and that influence the signs in the figurative works.
And from the result of this alchemy I try to give new and intense experiences to the user of my works.

My training dates back to childhood when I used to have fun with pencils and colors with my dad, also a doctor (psychiatrist and psychotherapist) with a passion and an innate gift for drawing. Around the age of 10, everything waned and remained dormant until a few years ago when I picked up the pencils again with my little daughter.
And there it is, a new spark...
Today I use pen, pencil, charcoal or ink on paper. I also love using acrylic, tempera or oil on canvas or wood. And in these cases I love making the colors explode in expressionistic and abstract drifts.
From all these technical-expressive modalities I have created my own peculiar type of figurative-abstract works.
